Choosing Photographs for my Documentary
For my photographic documentary I still need to narrow down which photographs I want to use, I have done two shoots so I have a variety of pictures to choose from but it is just deciding which ones will be the most effective. So far these are the photographs I know that I definitely want to use, I think they represent my theme of childhood memories quite well and show close up detail of various object which is what I really wanted to achieve.

Portfolio Preparation
Lately I have been working on my portfolio for University interviews I have next week, this has included selecting various photographs from different projects to print professionally so they will look presentable. I will also photo copy pages from different sketch books to present in my portfolio so I'm able to show more of a variety of work from different subjects to show what I have experimented with. Next Monday and Tuesday have University interviews which I am quite nervous about but I'm just going to focus on perfecting my portfolio to give myself the best chance.

Representing Reality
Recently we have started a project called 'Representing Reality', we have to create either a moving or still documentary which tells a story of a particular subject we have chosen whether it's personal or factual. I would consider myself more of a still photographer which is why I have chosen to do a still/photographic documentary, I had previously been to Longleat's Festival of Light on the weekend and took over a hundred pictures of the various light features I saw and I thought it would be a good topic to base my documentary on.
After a bit of thought I decided that this subject as I wouldn't be able to make it personal and tell the story effectively, this is when I came across an artist who had done something really personal and turned it into an almost expository documentary about his memories of his Grandmothers house as he remembered it from his childhood. This automatically made me think about all of the different ways I could do a similar idea and make it personal to me.
As a child I remember going to my Grandmothers house often and playing in her large garden, discovering all the different corners and small details that I still remember to this day. Possibly on the weekend I will go up there and just snap away with my camera capturing all the small things I remember as a child, I think this will also help give me variety of images and, in a way, visual memories to choose from and put together to create a story/documentary which is personal to me.

Longleat Festival Of Light
On the weekend I went to the Longleat Festival of Light and took pictures of anything I found interesting or special. As it gets later and darker the various lights and lanterns are turned on to light up the park with warm glow. The theme is Chinese lanterns a so there was a variety of different spectacular light features to wander around and look at.

UCAS
Over the past two weeks or so I have been tying to get up together with a range of different things that need completing. One of these things was my UCAS application, I still wasn't sure whether to apply to other universities as I knew I didn't want to go away just yet. This is why I have put FDA Photography at Weston College as one of my choices, I feel that it will be the right course for me because of the location and it will mean I am still able to get the qualifications I need to hopefully go onto University one day. As much as I was set on applying for this course I still wasn't sure whether I should apply for universities to see if I have a chance at getting in.

Visual Communication
For my third option, one of the projects was a graphic design. I had to design a milk carton based on two random words I was given. I found this project fairly difficult as I just wasn't sure how I was going to represent these words on a carton and make it visually effective. After doing some research and basic designs I found that my ideas actually started to flow and before I knew it I'd created a piece of visual communication I was happy with.
This is my final piece for my Illustration project, I had to design an Illustration to go alongside and article of my choice. I was given the option of three different articles and I decided to choose this one because I felt I would be able to create a more effective design to fit the text than I would be able to with the other two articles.

Over the past couple of weeks
Over the past couple of weeks I have been working on my fashion and textiles project for my second option. The project is based around architecture which I initially found difficult to brainstorm but after some research I discovered a few different artists and pieces of inspiration which I have found very helpful to my ideas. Once I'd gathered my inspiration I began to work on some designs that I felt had a strong link to the project title, I then narrowed it down to three final designs which i began experimenting with to see which idea turned out to be more effective. I have not yet finished my final piece but I am happy with what I have achieved so far and will continue to improve my idea more and more.
